In 2020 April discovered that she wanted to create new behaviors that would help her grow. Areas that she wanted to improve or behaviors that she never ventured into. At first, she thought she would try for a month then wondered what about a whole year?
2020, Year of Pause. A year where she pauses. Check her pulse. Stop her normal rate of motion-’FAST'. Notice her surroundings, people, nature, buildings, and breathe in the air. ‘Time’ was not under her control but she could slow the pace, appreciate the world she lives in. During Covid, she discovers in her own backyard of Georgia where lush landscape, and nature- call her to wonder, pause and slow down. Where green scenery beckons her to breathe in and blow out her bothersome and worrisome past instead making room to fill her life with new joyful experiences.
2021, Year of Reconstruction. The year where she rebuild her psyche physically, emotionally and mentally. Creating boundaries, constructing and reconstructing relationships old and new. Choosing to leave behind the negative relationships which weighed heavy on her soul. Extending the idea to remodeling her personal home. Reimagining a space, a haven instead of the current dumping ground, a storage unit with leaky ceilings and stained floors. As she looks to future trips, she wants to return to land in her own luxurious space as in the beautiful hotels she visited around the world.
2022, Year of Pleasure. Was a fun year. With the image of her 10 year old self saved on her phone. She reminded April to take care of her needs. Ask her what she wanted to do because her childhood was filled with duty to her parents, brothers and work. It was her time as they ventured off on their first trip since Covid. Basking in the beaches of Hawaii, hiking the Grand Canyon, and driving along the west coast of California, the Galapagos and finally the seventh continent, Antarctica. She swam with turtles, spoke to penguins and feasted on ‘pleasure.’
2023, Year of Fluidity. The entire year to do things in a moment’s notice. To switch gears, do activities with little planning. At times living in someone else's shoes and following a different path. Letting her feet wander aimlessly from Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, ...to Moldova and the Ukraine where she journeyed to 29 countries.
2024, Year of Sincerity. Is where she finds her voice, her thoughts and acts on them. Instead of worrying about other voices. She took the reins and made trips meaningful to her. Traveling has been an investment and a life long exploration of who she was in the world. Meanwhile, discovering much about herself while connecting with people around the world. Where she owns her travel experience. From Bolivia to West Africa she ventures to 21 countries.
2025, Year of Decadence. She has always lived a frugal life. She knows how to live below her means. Something that has worked for her financial well being. She knows how to shower others with luxury but faces difficulty adorning herself. Read about how she navigates decadence hoping to release her scarcity mindset. Although a struggle she tests the waters of opulence, stretching to live within her means. A year to luxuriate, and spend on herself reaping the fruits of her dedication.
